KONE firmly believes that sustainable buildings are our future and are committed to helping customers achieve their environmental objectives by providing environmentally responsible products and services.

• Our regenerative system can recover up to 25% of the total energy used by an elevator and use it for lighting the building, for example.
• The low-friction, gearless construction of KONE EcoDisc^® reduces energy consumption to half that of a similar geared installation.
• The machine has very high efficiency and uses less energy during its lifetime than traditional elevators significantly lowering running costs.
• Smaller total energy consumption and therefore lesser use of natural resources are strong environmental benefits KONE elevators.
• KONE elevators have a long service life and are easily recyclable.
• LED lights use up to 20% less energy and last up to 10 times longer than halogen lights.
• As opposed to hydraulic power units, KONE EcoDisc®contains no oil in the machine. This reduces both fire risk and environmental pollution through soil contamination.
• At the end of March 2008 90% of our production operations were certified according to ISO 14001 standard.
