The building

The world’s largest airport building, Beijing Capital Airport’s Terminal 3, is designed to provide a welcoming passenger experience, operational efficiency and sustainability. The public spaces under the unifying roof offer easy orientation and splendid views to the outside.

The solution

In providing 202 elevators, 17 escalators and 8 autowalks, KONE focused on creating a total design solution. Transport connections are as convenient as possible, with short walking distances, few changes of level, and minimized transfer times. The KONE products are in harmony with the overall performance and aesthetic goals of the building.

KONE delivered specialized equipment, such as the world’s most powerful KONE machine-room-less elevators with a capacity of 5000 kg, and inclined autowalks with a rise of nearly 17 meters. The 227 units are linked to the KONE E-link™ 5.0 monitoring system to guarantee a high level of availability.  KONE E-Link™ has an open interface, allowing easy integration with other facility management systems.
