Cities for All conference

Cities for All conference on 24 May 2012 in Helsinki Music Centre

This event is a Design for All Europe yearly conference and exhibition focusing on more accessible design for urban areas and cities. There will be a KONE speaker in the seminar program and KONE will be also featured in the exhibition which is taking place at Music Centre at the same time.

Hi Design 2012 exhibition

Hi Design 2012 exhibition June 8 – September 2 at The Cable Factory, Helsinki

This summer an unprecedented exhibition on the industrial design of Finnish companies will be on display in the Merikaapelihalli in Helsinki's Cable Factory. The extensive HI Design 2012 exhibition, that is a part of the official World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme, will offer industrial design experiences during 8.6.-2.9. and explain the effect design has had on Finland's success and the surprising ways in which design can be influential. KONE will provide the exhibition with two working elevators showcasing the latest technology and KONE’s award-winning designs. The elevators will be placed inside transparent shaft, and the machinery that is usually hidden away in the structures will be made visible, so that people will be able to observe closer how elevators work.

EASA Wastelands

European Architecture Students Assembly on 16-29 July 2012 in Suvilahti, Helsinki

Wastelands is an architecture students workshop event consisting of seminars, workshops and networking events. KONE is working together with the organizers on one workshop for the architecture students as part of the official program.

Docomomo conference and exhibition

Docomomo conference and exhibition on 7-10 August 2012 in Espoo

Docomomo conference focuses on modern architecture and design in cities, and how design and architecture can improve everyday life in urban environments. There will be a KONE speaker in the conference and KONE’s Espoo office is an official reference visit location for the conference participants.

Muru Pops Down in Tytyri at Lohja

Pop Down restaurant in Tytyri, in September

KONE is participating in establishing the world’s first Pop Down restaurant to its R & D facility, Tytyri’s mineshaft in Finland. This event is part of the WDC Helsinki 2012 initiative and the event is arranged in collaboration with other WDC-partners. The restaurant will be run and catered by the restaurant of the year, Muru. The Pop Down restaurant is open in September and places can be booked in the beginning of August.

KONE’s People Flow Day

The 3rd KONE People Flow Day ethnographic study event will be organised in October 2012, with design as its theme.

During the day, KONE employees around the world will visit different sites and observe people’s behaviour in elevators and on escalators, and meet with end users to discuss their needs. Employees’ observations will then be collated and used for example to provide greater customer insight as well as a means for improving product development.
