KONE is a pioneer in developing eco-efficient solutions in the elevator and escalator industry. With eco-efficiency we mean that we create more goods while using less resources and creating less waste and pollution. For several decades, we have led the way in creating innovative solutions that help significantly cut the energy consumption of buildings. Our maintenance and modernization services help keep the equipment operating efficiently throughout its lifetime.
During 2010 we achieved our 50 percent energy reduction target for volume elevators. The ambitious target was set in 2008 and the achieved energy reduction covers the clear majority of KONE elevators delivered globally.
During 2010, KONE elevators also received energy efficiency ratings in measurements performed by independent third parties. In Europe KONE MonoSpace® and KONE MiniSpace™ elevators and
in Asia the KONE 3000S MonoSpace®, KONE 3000S MiniSpace™ and KONE MiniSpace™ elevators received an ‘A-class’ as defined by VDI 4707. The VDI guideline is a European-based code of practice which was established by the Association of German Engineers (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure) and aims atclassifying elevators based on their energy consumption.
