Automatic building and roller shutter door safety

Auto doors, roller shutter doors, electric gates and revolving doors can be a safety risk if not systematically maintained.

As an example a simple grub screw becoming loose on the roller shutter below can cause the curtain to freefall.

Auto doors, roller shutter and electric gates need to be regularly inspected and maintain to ensure they work effectively and to prevent accidents.

The Australian Standard, AS 5007, specifies tasks and frequencies for regular maintenance on automatic pedestrian doors. For an overview of maintenance requirements in AS 5007 click here

For existing building doors a KONE Care™ door maintenance agreement protects both the equipment and users.

KONE Care™ also protects building Owners and Managers by providing on-going evidence that maintenance has occurred in line with applicable regulations and standards, meeting future audit or insurance obligations.

For new developments or repairs to existing roller shutter doors, ensure safety and eliminate the cost of spring and chain replacements by specifying a system with curtain free-fall protection such as KONE SafeGuard™
