The demanding logistics of a world-class sports facility leave no margin for error. Serving crowds of 70,000 in concentrated bursts, the building transportation systems must deliver efficient People Flow – and that means maintenance specialists must be at the top of their game all day, every day.
The challenge for KONE is development of a specialised, comprehensive maintenance program that anticipates the unique needs of equipment in an aggressive-use environment, ensuring a smooth, seamless experience for fans traveling through the Lucas Oil Stadium.
Tailored service for specific needs.
Systematic and proactive
KONE’s maintenance method provides a uniquely tailored, systematic and proactive approach. Every component of every piece of equipment is examined at the proper frequency in accordance with building usage and environment.
The majority of preventive maintenance visits (75 percent) at the stadium are conducted monthly during the professional football season. This is reassurance that equipment is at the highest level of readiness, especially at peak demand times.
A total of 28 elevators and escalators undergo 324 hours of maintenance each year. The KONE CareTM Plus maintenance agreement targets equipment needs with a uniquely responsive schedule, covering all maintenance visits, service calls and large repairs. Additionally, two levels of KONE management conduct equipment audits for quality assurance.
Relentless attention to detail
To ensure that game day goes smoothly, pre-event inspections are held a few days before each event. Because the equipment is operating at full capacity, bottlenecks, lines and crowding are minimized. Technicians also provide standby support on game day, ensuring immediate response to any equipment needs.
The stadium is serviced by a dedicated team of technicians, which ensures seamless, integrated functionality. Each member of the team receives specialised training aligned with the equipment that maximises each technician's strong skill sets. Integrity, expertise and dedication put KONE service technicians in a league of their own, setting global maintenance standards.
Every piece of KONE equipment in the stadium is connected to KONE E-LinkTM, an advanced monitoring system that provides real-time information on the status of elevators and escalators and statistical reports on performance. It also allows segmented use of the facility through lock-off access controls.
A dedicated workstation in the stadium’s building control room allows building managers to monitor elevators and escalators at all times. If there is a problem, managers can easily spot the location and call a KONE service technician for immediate trouble-shooting.
KONE CareTM Plus covers agreed level call-out and service repair work and therefore makes maintenance expenditures more predictable. The solution also provides real-time information on the maintenance work. Customers also benefit from good service levels in terms of call-out response times.
