Tips for owners 

Elevators, escalators and Autowalks breakdown for many reasons. These include accidental interference and component failure. When your equipment  breaks down it can cost you money  to have it fixed and significantly impact on the people flow throughout your property.

Here are a few hints that will assist to improve safety and reliability as well as reducing the chances of accidents and breakdowns.

 
 
  • Watch for unusual conditions - Check regularly for unusual operation, sounds or vibration, contact us to promptly resolve them.
  • Keep floor areas clean and clear - Make sure the floor of the elevator and the hallway floors are free of rubbish and slippery substances, make sure no obstructions block the smooth flow of traffic.
  • Check the door sill grooves - Grooves in the door sills help guide the doors. Debris in the grooves can interfere with proper door operation. Have someone vacuum the sill grooves regularly.
  • Maintain proper lighting - Passengers need adequate lighting to watch where they're going, both in the car and in the hallways. Always have broken lights repaired promptly.
  • Maintain proper machine room temperatures - Too much heat in a machine room can adversely affect the lift system. For hydraulic elevators, either too much or too little heat can impact the proper levelling of the cars and lead to tripping accidents.
  • Be sure ceiling panels are secured - Loose ceiling panels can pose a hazard to passengers. Keep an eye out for any that may have been moved by someone carrying tall items in the elevator.
  • Restrict machine room access - No one should be permitted into the machine room except trained elevator technicians.
