KONE China
As an investment of KONE Corporation in Finland, KONE Elevators Co., Ltd. was established in December 1996 as the major base in the Asia-Pacific area for the production of elevators and escalators. The company owns a production area of around 142,000 square meters in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province.
Today, KONE Elevators Co., Ltd. has been developing very fast and is now one of the top elevator and escalator suppliers in China with 45 branches (with 7 more in 2010), about 100 depots and over 3,600 employees. In addition to its own operations, KONE Elevators Co., Ltd. has founded two significant joint ventures in China, which is KONE and Toshiba Elevator and Building Systems Corporation and GiantKONE Elevators Co., Ltd. in China.
KONE’s leading Environment Friendly & Energy Efficient Technology is in well accordance with the main theme of 2008 Beijing Olympic, “Green, Technology and Humane”, and can be best seen in Beijing Olympic Related Projects. KONE Elevators Co.,Ltd. is now the biggest elevator equipment supplier of 2008 Beijing Olympic Related Projects. KONE’s participation in the World Expo includes equipment for the pavilions of Finland, Australia, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Denmark, Russia and Hong Kong as well as the Shanghai World Expo Performing Arts Center, Pudong’s Logistics Center Equipment, the National Grid Enterprise Pavilion, the Expo’s Information and Communication Pavilion and Aviation pavilion. Moreover, KONE has been a National Partner for the Finnish Pavilion”Kirnu”. As a part of the partnership, KONE will provide a custom-made sightseeing elevator for the pavilion. The specially designed elevator will not only meet the pavilion’s functional demand, but also become a unique scene within the pavilion.
