KONE has had a long standing relationship with Debenhams, originally established through O&K and its involvement with the old Burton Group. In 1998 Debenhams awarded KONE (O&K) the contract for the supply and installation of new escalators, together with the maintenance of all existing machines within its substantial portfolio. In 2004, following the success of this arrangement, Debenhams entered into a new National Framework Agreement with KONE which extended the scope of the contract to include its complete portfolio of lifts.
One of the principal advantages offered by the new Agreement is that it enables both companies to work more closely together to reduce wasteful practices and minimise costs. With regards to doors, in 2001 KONE purchased Bolton Brady, inheriting the maintenance contract for Debenhams’ industrial shutter doors.
Impressed with KONE’s capabilities, the contract was extended to cover pedestrian doors in 2004. KONE now look after their elevators, escalators and doors across 141 stores.
Debenhams are a key account for KONE. KONE provide a National Account Manager to cover the operational day-to-day running of the account plus a Strategic Account Manager to make sure present and future business objectives are aligned and successfully being achieved.
