• an unique initiative for a safe elevator rides
• creating a connect with elevator passengers
• a friendly animated character to give advice on the safe and effective use of elevators
Chennai, 6th March, 2011: KONE India, one of the leading elevator companies in India, today launched a light-hearted animation, ‘The Chronicles of Liftman’, to educate the public about elevator safety. The new concept was presented to the residents of Ramaniyam Samarpann apartments in Thiruvanmiyur.
McKinsey reports say that by 2030 India would have 590 million people living in cities, 68 cities will have 1 million + population, 700-900 million square metres of residential and commercial space needs to be built and 7400 kms of metros & subways need to be constructed. Hence with the spread of urbanization across the country, resulting in the exponential growth of towns and cities with their tall buildings – the use of elevators in everyday life is become increasingly common.
Although elevators have become user-friendly and include a host of safety features, there are certain do's and don'ts. It is one of the safest forms of transportation but following simple guidelines can help further improve passenger safety. It’s important to not only know how to properly ride in elevators, but also what to do if the elevator stalls.
Sreelakshmi Menon, Director Marketing & Communications, KONE Elevator India Private Limited, said “Safety awareness is the key to preventing accidents. Interestingly, researchers have found that people remember 50% of more what they see than what they hear. Cartoons can be effectively used to illustrate dangerous situations which might be impossible to capture on film in real life. In line with our vision, ”KONE delivers the best people flow experience” we conceptualized the most effective way to connect with the end users and communicate the importance of safe usage of elevators. The ‘Liftman” who helps prevents danger and maintains safety is conveyed in an engaging manner.”
Animated characters have proven their effectiveness in conveying a wide range of messages across subjects and age groups. KONE plans to take “The Chronicles of the Liftman” pan India and educate as many elevator users/passengers as possible.
KONE systematically works to develop the safety of its products and actively participates in industry-wide initiatives that enhance the safety of elevators and escalators. Safety is firmly established in the design of new products, as well as production and maintenance processes.
