Personnel elevator for Pazflor FPSO

07/01/2010

KONE is currently designing and manufacturing a personnel elevator for the world’s first FPSO that will use subsea separation system.

Pazflor FPSO

One of the largest ever built, Pazflor FPSO will have a topside weight of 35,494t. It is designed with a processing capacity of 200,000bpd of oil, 150mmcf/d of gas, and a storage capacity of about 1.9 million barrels of crude. Pazflor’s gas/liquid separation system on the seabed is a technological world first.

Total awarded Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the vessel's moorings, hull, and topsides. In turn, Daewoo awarded KBR, the contract to provide topsides engineering, procurement and interface design services for the FPSO.

The Pazflor FPSO is currently under construction in South Korea and will be the first of its kind to process two very different grades of oil. Drilling is scheduled to start in 2009 with oil production in 2011.

KONE marine is supplying one personnel elevator onboard this technologically advanced FPSO. The design and manufacturing of the personnel elevator for the floating platform to operate in such challenging environment has been a very challenging project. Thanks to KONE’s innovative and eco-efficient elevator technologies, the optimal solution has been developed. KONE personnel elevator is designed to run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the most demanding environments.

Powered by the KONE EcoDisc® hoisting machine, elevator is very space efficient, consumes less energy, and, what is most important, is highly reliable. Proven KONE EcoDisc® technology will ensure that the personnel is transported safely, reliably, with ease and comfort.

Total is the fifth largest publicly-traded integrated international oil and gas company and a world-class chemicals manufacturer. It operates in more than 130 countries and has 96, 950 employees.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd or DSME is one of the largest shipbuilders in the world and one of the "Big Three" shipbuilders of  South Korea. Established in 1973 in South Korea and reborn as an independent company in October 2000, DSMEemploys approximately 1,500 design and R&D personnel, and more than 15,000 skilled workers.
