The new medical complex will include a 120-meter tower including elevators with KONE’s innovative Destination Control System. A one-year maintenance deal for all the equipment was also agreed in the order.
Two of the elevators in the tower will also feature KONE JumpLift elevators, which boost the buildings’ vertical transportation capacity during construction time by growing with the building. The contractor for the project is BC Nieuwbouw Erasmus MC (a combination of BAM Utiliteitsbouw bv and Ballast Nedam Speciale Projecten) and the architect firm is EGM Architects. Installation of the equipment will begin in early 2010 and the first phase of the construction is estimated to be completed in 2013.
“KONE‘s knowledge and experience in large projects and the proactive attitude in the preparation phase of this project made a big difference for us,” says Fred Reurings of BC Nieuwbouw Erasmus MC. ”Furthermore, KONE's existing relationship with the hospital had a considerable impact in the decision-making process.”
“We are very pleased to work once again with BAM and Ballast Nedam on this impressive medical infrastructure expansion project,” says Noud Veeger, KONE EVP and Area Director for Central and North Europe. “The use of KONE’s people flow solutions such as Destination Control, KONE JumpLift and KONE E-Link shows the added value our customers can gain from choosing KONE for their project.”
