TheunconventionalCayanTower twists througha full 90degrees

fromground level to the top of its crown at 306meters.

The strikingdesignmakes it the tallestbuilding in theworldwith

The unusual helix of the residential block, which shows an

innovative solutions. KONEwas involvedearly in theplanning

process toensure theproject’s technical requirementswouldbemet.

Helical hexagon

KONEworkedwith the developer, CayanGroup, to assess

the needs of the skyscraper and alsomeet the demands for

elevator speed and efficiency.

The hexagonal floor plan, where each level is slightly

offset from the next to advance the twist, necessitated an

exceptional solution: the installation of circular elevator shafts.

This set challenging requirements that KONEmet at both a

design and technical level.

The solutions implemented included space and energy

elevators. Three of the sevenhigh-rise passenger elevators

travel with speeds of up to eightmeters per second.

KONE InfoScreens installed in six of the elevators ensure

passengers are up-to-datewith the latest building

information.

Construction timebenefits

KONEworked in closepartnershipwith themain contractor

tomaximize efficiency, safety and speed in the building

process by providing construction time elevators for an

extendedperiod of time.

“Thiswas very useful for the client, the builder and the

other contractors,” says KONE ProjectManager

Sivaraman

Rajagopalan

. Using these elevators helped avoid the need

todismantle and readjust an external hoist to follow the

atypical building shape.

“Compared to an external hoist, the construction time

elevatorswere substantially quicker and thewaiting time

wasmuch lower,”Rajagopalanadds. “Thiswas agreat help

when completing the interior finishes.”

Working together

Tomeet theclient’shigh level of technical andperformance

requirements, KONEwas able to tailor its offering

throughout the project.

“Through our experience, KONE proves tohave a

dedicated team of vertical transportationprofessionals,”

says

Ashraf Qudsieh

, ProjectManager at CayanGroup.

“They deliveredwhat they promised andwere very flexible

and cooperative through all the stages, startingwith the

early phases of planning to implementation and installation

of the system.”

Full commitmentmeant KONE took care of the smallest

details, evendown to redesigning the ladder usedby

service technicians to access the circular elevator shafts.
