Stay on Corporate siteKalmar RT Center in San Antonio Texas, U.S.A., which is part of the KONE Materials Handling division in KONE, has received a significant order for delivery of 93 Kalmar Rough Terrain Container Handlers (RTCH) from the Tank Automotive & Armaments Command (TACOM). The value of the order is approximately USD 50 million.
The order is part of the requirement type contract signed by Kalmar RT Center and TACOM in 2000. The contract includes 400-500 machines to be delivered in 2001-2005. The contract also includes spare parts and service for a 15-year period. Kalmar RT Center has already delivered more than 160 RTCHs to the U.S. Army.
In addition to TACOM’s order, the U.K. Ministry of Defence received 10 RTCHs in 2002 and has an option for ten more units. The sales to the U.K. Ministry of Defence and an earlier sale of two units to the Australian Army were made possible by the approval of TACOM, which holds exclusive rights to the Kalmar RTCH.
