KONE wins an order for an energy-efficient high-rise in China

Stock Exchange Release Published 30/12/2009

KONE has won an order to supply elevators and escalators for Leatop Plaza in Guangzhou, China. The office building measuring 303 meters will contain 33 elevators and two escalators. This will be the highest building KONE will have supplied in China.

The order includes five KONE MonoSpace® and 28 KONE MiniSpace™ and two KONE TravelMaster escalators. Together these solutions will ensure the energy-efficient people flow on the 64 floors of the building and to and from the underground car park and public transportation hub.

“We chose to cooperate with KONE due to KONE’s customer focus and eco-efficient solutions and technologies”, comments Mr. Fu, General Manager of Leatop Real Estate.

“We are honored to supply our solutions and help make the Leatop Plaza an example of eco-efficient high-rise buildings among the major urban clusters in China,” says William B. Johnson, Managing Director of KONE China.

Leatop Plaza office building is located in the Zhujiang New Town central business district of Guangzhou, China. The building will use auto sun-shade tracking system, air-conditioning and elevator energy feedback technology, energy-efficient LED lighting among other cutting-edge eco-efficient technologies. The simple and transparent main tower resembles an ice crystal emerging from the ground. Its crisp geometry, crowned by a sharp sloped roof top, will be an important element of the Guangzhou skyline. The building is expected to be completed in 2010.
