KONE has been awarded an order to provide approximately 190 elevators, escalators and autowalks for the new Terminal 3 building in the Beijing Capital Airport.
The airport extension is part of the Beijing’s massive infrastructure development in anticipation of the 2008 Olympics. The total value for the delivery exceeds EUR 10 million.
"China is the world's fastest growing market today. Our success in winning the Capital Airport contract demonstrates the market’s trust in KONE´s expertise and delivery capability in China. Since opening the Kunshan factory in 1998, KONE has established itself as a major competitor in the Chinese domestic market, thanks, in part, to the success obtained by KONE’s environmentally friendly machine-room-less technology”, comments Executive Vice President Pekka Kemppainen.
The first deliveries to Beijing Capital Airport’s Terminal 3 will take place during the summer of 2006, and all installation work is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2007.
