2018-10-23 KONE wins order for premium high-rise office development in Shenzhen, China (3)

KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to equip the Shenzhen Gemdale Center, a premium high-rise office development in Shenzhen, southern China. The new building will help meet growing demand for smart and environmentally sustainable business spaces.

Shenzhen Gemdale Center is situated in Nanshan District High-tech Park, among the headquarters of several high-technology enterprises in an area that has been referred to as China's Silicon Valley. When completed, the building, whose design seeks to spur innovation and collaboration, will provide smart office premises for companies in sectors such as information technology (IT), communications services and finance.

With a total constructed area of over 280,000 square meters, the development will include two high-rise office buildings rising to some 209 meters and 48 floors, and 168 meters and 39 floors respectively. The development also includes a 49-meter-tall podium building with 11 floors. In addition, it will feature an R&D center, a clubhouses, a skyway that connects the buildings, a garden and 1,174 underground parking spaces.

KONE will equip the building with innovative and energy-efficient solutions, including 47 KONE MiniSpace® elevators, 9 KONE MonoSpace® elevators and 10 KONE TravelMasterTM escalators. A KONE Destination Control System integrated with the KONE Access control interface will help maintain smooth people flow through the lobby and shorten elevator journey times by optimizing traffic flows. KONE E-Link(TM) will enable building managers to monitor their elevator and escalator systems from one location.

Shenzhen Gemdale Center is due to be completed in 2020. It is a development of Gemdale Properties and Investment Corporation and was designed by Callison RTKL.

KONE booked the order in the third quarter of 2018.
