Prerequisites and practical arrangements for KONE International Trainee Program

KONE International Trainee Program (ITP) has been canceled for 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, we offer other internship positions in different parts of the world throughout the year. Keep an eye on our open positions page to stay up to date. We thank you for your understanding.

Prerequisites for internships

KONE International Trainee Program (ITP) is for university students who are at least halfway through their studies. Good English language skills are essential for an International Trainee. In many cases you should also be familiar with the language of the host country.

In the program you will face interesting challenges and become acquainted with KONE as a global company. ITP is also an excellent stepping-stone to a career at KONE.

Practical arrangements

Internships last from three to six months, and usually begin between April and June. If you are selected for the ITP, we cover your round-trip travel costs to the host country and pay a trainee salary. The local KONE unit will help arrange your accommodations and will assign a contact person to whom you can turn for support. It is the trainee's responsibility to obtain personal insurance as well as residence and work permits (if applicable) before departure.

Application process to the KONE International Trainee Program (ITP)

In early January the ITP positions are published on our career site. Link to the open positions can be found from Apply now page. You can apply separately to a maximum of two. Complete the online form and include an application letter, CV and your current study transcript in English.

The application period ends in the beginning of February after which the most suitable candidates are invited first for a video interview. Following teleconference interview rounds are typically organized by the line manager in the hosting unit. The interviews take place during February and March.

The final selections are made by the hosting unit at the end of March and all applicants will be contacted by email or phone.
