Kalmar wins significant straddle carrier order in the port of Antwerp

Kalmar has received an order for 29 straddle carriers from MSC Home Terminal in the port of Antwerp.

The order is for Kalmar’s EDRIVE® ESC straddle carrier launched last year, which has been praised in particular for its electrical drive system and environmental considerations. Fifteen of the straddle carriers are equipped with Kalmar’s unique 50-ton capacity extendable full twinlift spreaders, which allow two containers to be handled simultaneously.

The straddle carriers will be produced in Tampere, Finland and are due for delivery late this year and early 2005. Both parties have agreed not to publish the transaction value.

Last December, the same customer placed the largest order ever in Europe for ship-to-shore cranes, when it ordered ten units from Kalmar.
