KONE won a major order to supply and install all elevators and escalators for the new Tower 185 in Frankfurt, Germany.
KONE will deliver 28 elevators and 2 escalators in total to the 185 meter skyscraper, which will be built in the "Europaviertel” (European Quarter), one of the main developments in the city. The elevators will range from standard elevators with a speed of 1m/s to high performance elevators with a speed of 7 m/s. To ensure smooth traveling and optimized people flow, all elevators will be linked to a destination control system, which instructs users to choose the elevator that takes them to their destination floor with the fewest stops.
The new Tower 185 building will include office and commercial premises. The concept and design of the building have been made by architect Prof. Christoph Mäckler. Vivico, owner and project developer for the building, aims to save at least 25% of the energy consumed by an average skyscraper and intends to have the project licensed with the LEED Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
“We are extremely proud to be associated with this great development,” says Noud Veeger, KONE EVP and Area Director for Central and North Europe. “Due to the LEED accreditation objective as well as the architect’s aim to use significantly less energy than conventional skyscrapers, this project is a perfect fit for KONE’s approach to sustainable building design. We look forward to working with Vivico and Prof. Mäckler on this prestigious project."
