I first came to KONE in 2008 to complete a trainee period as a part of my engineering studies. During my trainee period I got to work in many different task areas. In the production area the Manufacturing Manager assigned me a project to reduce downtime in the machine area. In order to do this I had to know the material used in each area. In the Electrification Department, I first worked at KONE Signalization System where I learned how to assemble halls and swings. Next, at Controllers, they taught me about the different kinds of elevator controllers.
Great learning experiences
I also worked as a leader’s assistant at Material Cab Design which develops the cabin parts and accessories needed for installation. One of my responsibilities there was to handle the production reports. For some time, I was also in charge of this area. That was a great experience for me because it helped me to better understand the production flow and the problems that delay it - and find more effective solutions.
From trainee to permanent employee
After some time, I was given the opportunity to apply for a Tester Technician position in Controllers. I got the job and, since the beginning of 2009, I work full time as a Tester. I have learned to test different kinds of controllers as well as to solve the failures that occur during the tests.
In 2010, we worked on improving the efficiency of the Controllers area. As a part of this project, besides my job as a tester, I have been in charge of the Scrap Control function which removes those materials that are outdated, damaged and not fulfilling the quality requirements. This has helped me to evaluate why materials are thrown away and to look for a way to recover them or prevent them from being damaged.
