Our ambitious greenhouse gas targets

KONE targets a 40% reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions related to the materials and lifetime energy use of our products. We have also committed to a 50% cut in the emissions from our own operations and pledged to have carbon-neutral operations. Both targets are set to 2030 and have been verified and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.

KONE achieves carbon neutral manufacturing units globally

KONE made all its manufacturing units carbon neutral in June 2023, an industry first that was achieved 18 months ahead of schedule.

KONE helps you achieve your sustainability targets, with green building solutions, best-in-class energy efficiency, and solutions that extend the lifetime of your equipment. We also offer carbon-neutral KONE DX Class elevators and carbon neutral KONE Care™ DX maintenance.

Working towards carbon neutrality

Measure

We calculate our carbon emissions for KONE Care™ DX maintenance and select DX Class elevators, and the calculations are verified by a third party.

Reduce

We have clearly defined emission reduction actions that are, for example, related to materials, manufacturing, logistics, maintenance visits and spare parts.

Compensate

We compensate for the remaining emissions that we are not able to eliminate through our comprehensive emission reduction actions.
