Key challenges to be solved with data and AI

  • How can we scale data and AI technology platforms to reduce manual workflows and enhance process automation in building operations?
  • How can we exchange data with diverse ecosystem partners in a way that ensures high data quality and prevents system-level vulnerabilities?

We are aiming to

Identify the data needed for digital solutions to collect, harmonize, and make the data available as reusable, easy-to-consume data products.

Build the common AI capabilities needed for develop and make them available as reusable, easy-to-consume services.

Identify, design and develop simulation capabilities and applications that support and speed up virtual simulation and use of novel data and AI solutions in advanced simulations.

AI for future-proofed building operations

We are looking for partners making a step-change in data and AI-based predictive operations in building modernization and maintenance. Through collaboration with ecosystem partners, we are experimenting with different GenAI applications, such as generative digital twins and physical AI.

Simulation competence development

We are looking for partners to simulate existing structures and automate the process with enhanced technologies to introduce simulation to building sector. Working with industry partners, we explore digital modelling and automation for more efficient testing and implementation of different simulation technologies.

Key co-innovation areas

Together with our partners, we are developing real-life solutions based on the co-research findings. To leverage data and AI to enhance building operations, we are piloting and adopting new solutions for the industrial context:

Generative AI solution development

We look for partners to explore emerging GenAI technologies to enhance productivity, transform processes and create new solutions and applications in the industrial context. Emphasis is on transforming KONE capabilities with generative AI, empowering people, improving productivity and delivering new value to both customers and end users.

Digital progress monitoring

We partner up to develop automated progress reporting that updates supervisors in real time as tasks are completed.

Workforce management on construction sites often relies on manual logging and on-site supervision, so we aim to streamline the modernization process.

Adoption of simulation applications

We partner to explore and industrialise different use cases to iteratively develop the simulation capability and scenario-based models. These include simulation models for e.g. quantifying building equipment lifetimes and acoustic models for evaluating noise.
