Precision engineering for exceptional scale and complexity

Designing a vertical transportation system for a vessel of Harmony of the Seas' immense scale – displacing nearly 227,000 gross tons with over 2,700 rooms – presented unique challenges. Royal Caribbean and STX France required a custom-built, highly reliable system that could handle thousands of people moving simultaneously, all while adhering to a strict construction schedule.

KONE met these requirements through close collaboration with the architect and consultant from the earliest design phases. By understanding the customer's specific needs, KONE delivered tailored solutions such as space-saving KONE MonoSpace® elevators that freed up valuable space for other amenities. Careful planning and precise execution kept the complex installation on track, leading to a successful handover and recognition of KONE as a valued long-term partner.
