KONE to equip new 55 Old Broad Street office tower in the City of London

November 5, 2026

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to supply a range of people flow solutions for 55 Old Broad Street, a major new office development in the City of London. Located close to Liverpool Street station, one of the UK’s busiest railway hubs, the scheme will deliver a new Grade A, sustainable and future-ready workspace in the heart of London’s financial district.

The development comprises a state-of-the-art new 23-story building rising to 87 meters, alongside the refurbishment of 65 Old Broad Street, adjacent to the development. Together, the two buildings will create new pedestrian routes and high-quality workspaces, targeting BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS five-star certifications.

The project is being developed by AshbyCapital, with Landsec acting as development manager, and built by Skanska UK. Fletcher Priest Architects is the project architect.

"By working with the project team from the earliest design stages, we were able to develop a tailored solution that makes the most of the available space and the latest lift and escalator technology," says Karla Lindahl, EVP Europe at KONE. "We are proud to support this landmark development and to help create a modern, sustainable workplace in one of the world’s leading financial centres."

KONE will deliver 15 elevators and two KONE TravelMaster™ escalators with custom cladding. The five KONE MiniSpace™ DX double-deck elevators come equipped with KONE UltraRope® technology which enables more usable space at the top of the building and in the basement. Passenger waiting times will be reduced by the KONE Destination 920 destination control system, and real-time equipment data via KONE E-Link monitoring and KONE 24/7 Connect will support reliable and predictable building operations. Together, the solutions will ensure smooth and efficient people flow for around 2,100 people daily.

KONE booked the order in the second quarter of 2026. Work on site is scheduled to begin in March 2027, and building is due to be completed in 2029.
