Inside Hongqiao Transport Hub

Moving millions of passengers

Opened for the 2010 World Expo, the Hongqiao Transport Hub is one of the world's most uniquely integrated transport centers. Covering more than 26 square kilometers, it comprises Hongqiao Airport and serves as an interchange for five metro lines, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, and the Maglev connection to Pudong Airport.

Managing the movement of millions of passengers each year requires reliable, seamless mobility throughout the hub. To support safe and efficient journeys, KONE delivered more than 400 units of elevator and escalator equipment and modernized solutions in the older section of the airport terminal, including a specially designed scenic elevator developed in collaboration with the architect.
