Located in the heart of Shanghai's bustling Xujiahui commercial district, Metro City has been a major retail and entertainment destination for over two decades. Known for its distinctive crystal globe architecture, the shopping mall attracts between 50,000 and 100,000 visitors daily, with a total of 32 escalators working around the clock to help move people throughout the complex.
To ensure safe, reliable, and smooth people flow for years to come, KONE modernized all 32 escalators throughout the mall. The project improved equipment performance, reliability, and eco-efficiency while allowing the shopping mall to remain fully operational throughout the modernization process.
