When a relationship lasts 20 years, the chemistry must be right. KONE’s partnership with Metro de Madrid assures a smooth ride for three million daily commuters in the Spanish capital. Opened in 1919, the network now spans 293 kilometres, 13 lines and 300 stations.

Keeping Madrid on the move

As Metro de Madrid expanded, KONE supported its growth through new equipment installations, modernization projects and ongoing maintenance services.


Over the course of the partnership, KONE delivered 334 escalators and 122 elevators, while carrying out modernization and repair projects across the network. Dedicated maintenance and rapid-response services help keep the equipment running smoothly and reliably.
