Stay on Corporate siteKONE has won an order to supply 90 machine-room-less elevators and 16 autowalks to Kunming’s new international airport, which will be China’s fourth largest airport when completed in 2011. KONE’s People Flow™ solutions will help transfer 38 million passengers and 950,000 tonnes of cargo in southwestern China’s leading transportation hub.
Altogether, KONE will deliver 82 KONE MonoSpace™elevators, 8 KONE TranSys™ freight elevators and 16 autowalks.

This project is another opportunity to help make traveling in China easier, whether it is at the Terminal 3 at Beijing Capital Airport, along the Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway or now in Kunming,” says Pekka Kemppainen, Executive Vice President, KONE Asia Pacific.
Kunming New Airport is a priority engineering project in Yunnan Province and is expected to be operational by the end of 2011. Kunming New Airport will serve Southeast Asia, South Asia and connect Asia to Europe. The airport’s long-term objective is to transfer 65 million passengers and 2.3 million tonnes of cargo by 2040. The order was booked in Q1 of 2010.
