KONE JumpLift™

Get even more out of your elevators during construction time. With KONE JumpLift™, you can get early access to your construction time elevator and start moving people and materials before the building has reached its full height. This speeds up building completion, leading to a quicker return on investment.

Start moving earlier with KONE JumpLift™

KONE JumpLift™ is a self-climbing construction-time elevator solution that uses the building's permanent elevator shaft and materials during construction for smoother logistics. KONE JumpLift™ can be used to complement, or even replace entirely, external hoisting systems. As a fully functioning elevator designed to meet the same safety standards as the completed elevator, it can also help improve site safety.

Core benefits

KONE JumpLift™ enables smoother project timelines

  • Jump ahead with a mobile machine room

The temporary hoisting unit "jumps" upward within the permanent shaft as your building rises. Jumps are planned in increments and can be scheduled alongside other construction activities with minimal downtime.

  • Put your elevator car to work early

KONE JumpLift™ uses the building's permanent elevator car (without final interior finishes) throughout construction. When the project completes, conversion to the finished passenger elevator can be rapid and straightforward, helping reduce redundant equipment and waste.

  • Less waiting around for people and goods

Enjoy improved transportation capacity compared to traditional exterior hoists thanks to higher elevator speed and automatic doors. KONE JumpLift™ can also be complemented with digital solutions to support visibility and efficiency on site.

  • Close the façade earlier

With KONE JumpLift™, you can remove exterior hoists and close the façade sooner to help weatherproof the building. This can also allow you to finish the interior more quickly.

How can KONE JumpLift™ help you?

  • KONE Jumplift construction elevator

    Secure operating environment

KONE JumpLift™ provides early access to the building's permanent elevator shaft for faster vertical transportation and increased load capacity, helping workers, their tools, and materials reach their destination floor more efficiently — which can save hours every day.

  • KONE Jumplift construction elevator

    Lower overall costs

With a KONE JumpLift™ construction elevator, workers can spend less time traveling or waiting for materials to arrive, daily labor costs may decrease, the building can be finished faster, and owners may be able to capitalize on their investment sooner.

  • Construction cranes

    All-weather operation

KONE JumpLift™ elevators use the building's permanent elevator shaft for vertical transportation. This means that unlike traditional construction hoists, work can proceed inside the building with less exposure to weather conditions.

  • KONE Jumplift construction elevator

    Improved safety

Unlike exterior construction hoists, a KONE JumpLift™ is installed inside the elevator hoistway, an approach designed to support construction elevator safety and to align with applicable elevator safety regulations and codes.

Frequently asked questions

KONE JumpLift is a self-climbing construction-time elevator that operates inside the building's permanent elevator hoistway and rises together with the building, regardless of weather conditions — rather than operating as an external hoist attached to the building facade. Unlike traditional rack-and-pinion construction hoists, JumpLift uses mostly components from the adequately protected permanent elevator and then converts into the finished passenger elevator at project completion with fresh finishes. It travels 2 to 5x faster than external hoists, has automatic doors, and is compliant with all major elevator safety standards.

KONE JumpLift™ can travel roughly 2 to 5 times faster than external construction hoists in mid-rise and high-rise buildings. Traditional external hoists typically operate at about 0.6 to 1.5 meters per second; JumpLift™ can reach speeds of up to 4 meters per second, helping reduce the time workers, tools, and materials spend traveling between floors.

KONE JumpLift™ can be installed and become operational in the early stages of construction, before the building reaches its full height. The self-climbing mechanism means the hoisting unit moves upward within the permanent shaft as each floor is completed, growing with the structure. From around the 10th floor upward, it can often replace the need for external hoists.

When construction is finished, KONE JumpLift™ converts into the permanent passenger elevator. The conversion is typically straightforward — the machinery is installed in its permanent location, and the interior finishes of the elevator car, landing doors, and signalization are completed.

KONE JumpLift™ is designed to meet major elevator safety standards — the same standards that govern the finished permanent passenger elevator installation. These are generally more stringent than the requirements that typically apply to external construction hoists.

KONE JumpLift™ is designed to meet more stringent safety standards than those that typically apply to external construction hoists. It operates inside the permanent elevator hoistway, offering greater protection from weather conditions such as rain, wind, and freezing temperatures, which can support safe and reliable operation across a wide range of weather conditions.
