KONE has won the contract to supply 49 KONE MonoSpace® elevators to the China National Grand Theater.
The theater, located to the West of the People's Great Hall near Tian'anmen Square in downtown Beijing, is a modernistic hemispherical building designed by French architect Paul Andreu. The complex, whose total cost is estimated at US $325 million, consists of a 2,500-seat opera hall, 2,000-seat concert hall, and two theaters with capacities of 1,200 and 500 respectively. Delivery of the elevators is to be handed over in early 2003 and the entire construction project is scheduled for completion in 2005.
