KONE Corporation, press release, July 1, 2025
KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to provide a suite of People Flow® solutions for The Node - a 130-meter-high, 32-storey office building in the Pasila neighborhood of Helsinki in Finland. The project is part of the Keski-Pasila urban development scheme, aimed at creating a modern center with residential, office, and service functions.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, The Node will become Finland's tallest office building. Featuring 3,000 office workstations and a variety of restaurants and cafés across 45,000 square meters, it not only provides high-quality office space, but it also sets a new standard for sustainable construction. To achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, strict circular economy principles are followed on site to reduce environmental impact.
"The Node is an ambitious project that requires strong collaboration from all stakeholders," says Ville Häyrinen, Construction Manager at Varma. "KONE approaches this project with a genuine partnership mindset, understanding the sensitivities and regulations of high-rise construction. To us, KONE has proven to be a responsible partner whose expertise we can rely on."
"The Node is a standout in Finnish high-rise construction," adds Karla Lindahl, Executive Vice President for KONE Europe. "A 32-storey mixed-use tower, it will mark a new chapter in the development of Pasila as a modern neighborhood where people can work, live, and thrive. At KONE, we are honored to be part of shaping the Helsinki skyline, while bringing our global experience in the high-rise industry to Finland."
KONE's order for The Node comprises a total of 16 elevators, including nine KONE MonoSpace® 700 DX and seven KONE MonoSpace® 500 DX elevators, and a total of 28 KONE KT1000 turnstile lanes for a seamless and secure people flow. Additional solutions include KONE Office Flow, People Flow Analysis, two KONE JumpLift® 800 and KONE SiteFlow® solutions to support construction efficiency.
The developer is the pension insurance company Varma, and the project management consultant is Haahtela-rakennuttaminen Oy. The architectural design was done by JKMM Architects. The anchor tenant will be the Finnish telecommunications company, Elisa.
KONE booked the order in Q3 of 2024.
