Kalmar secured additional significant orders for the port of Antwerp

Press Release Published 15/06/2004

Kalmar has received two orders for a total of 14 ship-to-shore container cranes (STS) for the port of Antwerp from PSA/Hesse-Noord Natie and P&O Ports Antwerp.

The order for P&O Ports (in consortium with P&O Nedlloyd and Duisport) also includes an option for three STS cranes. These orders make Kalmar the leading supplier of STS cranes in Europe.

Delivery of the cranes will be carried out in 2005 and 2006 by the center of excellence for Kalmar’s ship-to-shore cranes in Rotterdam. All parties have agreed not to publish the value of the transactions.

In addition to these orders, Kalmar has received other significant orders for the port of Antwerp within the last six months. The orders included 10 STS cranes, which was the largest order for that type of crane ever in Europe, and 29 straddle carriers. Kalmar established its own sales company in Antwerp on 1 June 2004. The sales office focuses on the sale and service of STS cranes, RTG cranes, straddle carriers and terminal tractors.
