Guo Hua International Contractor Company and Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd have placed two orders with KONE to deliver all elevators for the National Stadium in Beijing, which will host the 2008 Olympic Games.
The orders are for 26 machine-room-less KONE MonoSpace® elevators, which will be installed during 2006. The order follows KONE's previous successes in China, including equipment deliveries for the new terminal in Beijing Capital Airport, the Capital Museum and the National Grand Theater, which all are major projects for the 2008 Olympic Games infrastructure construction.
"KONE wins the China National Stadium project thanks to its advanced technology and high quality solutions," says Mr. Tan Xiaochun from Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd. "We are pleased that Beijing Urban Construction Group has chosen us for this high-profile project, which demonstrates the strong trust that KONE's expertise and advanced solutions enjoy in China," comments KONE executive vice president, Asia-Pacific Area Director, Pekka Kemppainen.
The National Stadium, known as "The Birds Nest" because of its unique design, will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games, as well as track and field events, soccer finals, etc.
